#Monday. About to head off to the opening ceremony rehearsals for some low profile event that’s kicking off on Friday and could not think of a more ‘fitting’ tune. Used to wonder if this song spawned ‘Live To Tell’ before it went off to war?

#Friday. Even though the sound can be just as bad as (if not worse than) every other outdoor show, between us we’ve seen some surprisingly good gigs at Hyde Park in recent years. Neil Young in ’09 was near to mind blowing and Blur weren’t half bad either. With this in mind, and even with the forecast as patchy as it was always going to be right now (what with rain being so on trend), we must confess to being more than a little jealous of those going along to watch Paul Simon on Sunday night. The entirety of Graceland being played AND Ladysmith Black Mamabazo popping on stage for the duration … not that shabby. So in honour of this event we are not going to and in a vague attempt at being unpredictable, we thought we’d post something obvious from Rhythm Of The Saints instead.
Frankie Rose – Pair of Wings (Time and Space Machine Remix)

#Wednesday. One of our number is a big fan of Ms. Rose [Handy hint: Despite repeated queries on the matter he is NOT a founder member of the Sex Pistols]. So for this reason, not to mention the effectiveness with which this remix can help re-adjust the heart rate to Balearic levels …, and we think it’s well worth taking the risk on a free download and seeing what happens.

Taken from the album ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ (iTunes/Spotify).
#Monday. A version of American life that rarely fails to draw us in, even if it can’t square up to our own rather less harrowing stateside experiences. Tom Joad remains lodged in our top three albums by the boss and – depending on the time of year you ask us – often takes the winners cup to boot. And so the debate rages once more …

#Monday. In what world would this not be getting repeat plays on the GPS team stereo right now?
